5 Tips for Traveling with Invisalign

Clear aligners and blue storage caseIf you’ve recently started your journey with Invisalign, you don’t have to cancel your travel plans. However, you must follow your dentist’s instructions, even when you’re away from home. You can ensure there aren’t any complications by following 5 simple tips for traveling with Invisalign.

1. Create a Travel Oral Hygiene Kit

Oral hygiene is more important than ever before because you don’t want food residue and plaque to get trapped between your aligners and enamel. It’s best to brush your teeth after eating, which can be difficult when you’re on the road.

Create an oral hygiene kit to take with you. Besides your toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss, don’t forget to pack your cleaning products for your aligners.

2. Carry Your Storage Case

Keep your storage case in your pocket or purse. You’ll have a clean, safe place to put your aligners when eating. You’ll avoid bacteria exposure and misplacing them.

3. Wear Your Aligners

Although you might get out of your regular routine, don’t forget to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day. Not wearing your aligners long enough for even a few days can add delays to your treatment plan.

4. Bring Extra Aligners

Pack extra aligners, so you can switch to the next set in your series on time. If you should break or misplace an aligner, you’ll have an extra set on hand, just in case. You won’t have to worry about any regression in your treatment.

5. Visit Your Dentist

Depending on how long you’ll be out of town, visit your dentist before you leave. You must check in with your dentist every few weeks to monitor your treatment’s progression. You don’t want to skip your regular appointments. Inform your dentist of your travel plans. They may have additional instructions or tips to follow while you’re away.

You won’t think twice about the appearance of your teeth while traveling because Invisalign is discrete. Keep your treatment plan your priority to ensure nothing delays your journey to a straight smile.
