Preventative Dentistry

With regular care, your mouth will stay healthy. Your treatments will be shorter and less invasive, and you will spend less time in the dentist’s chair. Children and adults may benefit from preventive treatments, including:

  • Cleanings: Routine cleanings allow the dentist to promptly identify and correct any trouble spots.
  • Screenings: During each appointment, we will complete a thorough oral health examination. To make your appointment as comfortable and efficient as possible, we use the DiagNodent – a laser cavity detector pen. Our intraoral camera system allows us to show you exactly what we see, to help you make the best decisions for your oral health.
  • Sealants: a thin plastic flouride coating applied to the chewing surface of your children’s teeth or your own to prevent decay.
  • Fluoride treatments: We offer fluoride treatments to all of our younger patients to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent decay.

General Dentistry

We educate you about your dental health so you can make informed decisions about your dental care. Each patient has different needs, so we take time to learn how we can offer the best personalized treatment.

  • Fillings: To suit your budget, your appearance, and your life, we offer the traditional silver fillings, as well as aesthetic white fillings, which are also referred to as bonding.
  • Crowns: If decay or trauma has caused your tooth to lose structure, we can restore it with a dental crown, or cap. If you prefer a natural appearance, we can use all porcelain crowns custom designed to match your existing teeth. Gold or metal crowns are available also.
  • Root canal therapy: Sometimes, deep cavities or cracks in a tooth’s enamel allow bacteria to enter the pulpal tissue causing inflammation of the nerve, injury to the gums and bones that support the teeth. With root canal therapy, the dentist will remove the diseased pulp and clean the canals, then restore function and appearance with a dental crown.
  • Implants: If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental implants will improve your smile and your lifestyle. Dental implants look, feel, and function like strong, natural teeth because of a titanium anchor attached to the jawbone. We offer surgical placement & restoration in the office.

Periodontal Treatments

Regular dental visits can help your dentist discover signs of periodontal disease, or gum disease, before the condition becomes problematic. Although symptoms of gum disease often go unnoticed, the results do not. Consequences of gum disease include swollen gums, bleeding gums, bone loss, and tooth loss. If untreated, the condition may contribute to whole-health complications, such as strokes, heart attacks, as well as causing complications in diabetes and pregnancy. Early detection increase your treatment options.

  • Root planing and scaling: To prevent early gum disease from advancing, removal of plaque and tartar that has settled below the gum line (scaling) and will smooth the surface of the root (planing). After treatment, the gums should completely heal, and with regular oral hygiene care the possibility of recurrence will be dimished.
  • Antibiotic treatment: In combination with other treatments, we use Arestin microspheres to kill bacteria below the gum line. We apply the powder-like antibiotic, and it releases its medication over time, reaching areas that your toothbrush can’t.
  • Soft tissue grafting: If advanced periodontal disease has left the roots of your teeth exposed, soft tissue grafts can protect your teeth, ease your sensitivity, and enhance your appearance. We will transfer tissue from a donor site or tissue bank onto your gums to restore the gum’s aesthetic and protective functions.
  • Bone grafting: As gum disease progresses, it destroys the bone that supports your teeth. Bone grafting can promote regeneration and reverse the conditions that lead to tooth loss.

Tooth Extractions

Although we will make every attempt to help you maintain your teeth, a tooth extraction sometimes provides the best solution for your oral health. Simple and complicated extractions are done in our office. Some complicated extractions may need to be referred to an oral surgeon.

  1. Simple extractions: Reasons for tooth extractions vary. Trauma can damage a tooth so badly that we cannot repair it with a crown or filling, or decay can extend to the point that the tooth must be removed.
  2. Wisdom teeth removal: When wisdom teeth, the third set of adult molars, grow properly into an amply spaced jaw, they enhance dentition. Sometimes, though, wisdom teeth grow in sideways or at an angle, come in only partially, or cause cysts. In such cases, removal of wisdom teeth offers the best solution.

Implant Placement & Restoration

Each tooth supports the teeth around it, helping you to bite properly and sustaining the health of your entire mouth. When one or more of your teeth are missing, dentures, bridges, or implants can restore tooth support and give you back the smile you deserve.

  • Dental implants: Dental implants often provide the most permanent and functional method for restoring teeth. Implants are titanium posts, surgically embedded into the bone that creates an artificial root. Implants can be used to restore a single tooth or several teeth. A few strategically placed implants can be used to anchor a dental bridge or dentures.
  • Dental bridges: If you decide that a dental implant does not provide the most practical solution for you. A bridge can be used to replace any missing tooth. The prosthesis will maintain the look and function of your teeth for many years to come.
  • Dentures: Some patients may prefer partial or full dentures to replace missing teeth. Improved fit makes dentures a good option for many of our patients.
